Asians seem to be obsessed with noses. Countless times, a Japanese person I have been talking to has suddenly blurted some variation of, “Wow. . . You certainly have a high nose!”

Once on a trip to Korea, we were strolling through the Pusan fish market when an old guy suddenly walked up to me and gave my nose a good twist, apparently in an attempt to determine if it was real.

Conversely, many Asians are dissatisfied with their own noses, and the nose job, to create a higher bridge, is the second most common type of plastic surgery requested in Asia (after eyelid surgery).

This why Japanese professor Joji Yamahara of the University of Sydney developed a new device designed to provide people with a higher, more attractive nose, without surgery. The device, which looks like a pair of glasses without lenses, has a nose piece that vibrates at a rate of 7,000 Hz, which is claimed to excite local growth of nasal cartilage. Nose growth is said to occur with just three minutes of use per day.

According to reports, a model who used the device raised the angle of her nose from 20 degrees to 30 degrees after only seven days of use.
