I don’t know if such things exist outside of Japan, but over here there are devices for shrink wrapping futon to protect them against mould and mildew. You place the futon into a heavy plastic bag, and then attach a hose to a hole that is provided to suck out all the air and produce the shrink wrap.

Such shrink-wrap devices do exist outside Japan, but I’ve only seen it for food as a household appliance in America.
