It sounds like advice that should be used when doing business in any nation. In fact I have seen at least half of these tactics used by ebay resellers. I’m interested in hearing more on how this is specifically a Korean problem.

My words exactly. Good post, but universally applicable.
The one fault was that the article implies that, by confirming the company you are dealing with in fact exists, you can avoid all those other problems.

I made all those excuses myself, albeit in a different way, when I was working for a Japanese trading company.
