TV tubbies eating their way to fame

Check out this post over at Hopeless Romantic that has a really great critique on Japanese TV, especially the many shows that consist of people eating things.
The captions from picture–yes, for some odd reason, Japan is the only country on Earth that has decided to caption it’s own language– roughly translates to “Us guys have gone to the mecca of mayonnaise, the mayonnaise palace!” Yes, they are drinking mayonnaise straight from the container in the pic as well; it comes in convenient squeeze-tubes like that here.
Thats Papaya Suzuki =O I love that guy, he was on Adam and Joe go tokyo and was pretty cool and his dancers really funny.
January 16th, 2006 at 8:01 amYep, Chinese shows are normally subtitled as well, even if it’s a Mandarin show in a mostly Mandarin area.
However, it is very interesting how text-oriented Japanese TV is–text sound effects, and everything.

I love Japanese subtitles and extra effects. They really emphasise the funny parts of sentence.
I guess it’s kind of like how western shows have canned laughter. They let you know “You should laugh here”.

Definetly do. He has (or had) a team of oyaji dancers. All middle aged mostly balding men. And the dance i saw them do they were all were pink tropical shirts and dancing in a really camp way. It was hilarious, song was quite catchy to boot.
