What kind of fish is this again?

It’s always fun to see what happens when Western products are chewed up in the mill of Japanese culture. You get things like the McTeriyaki burger and California Cola (”#1 in the USA!”). But it doesn’t go the other way as often. Actually, it probably does, but we are too clueless to recognize it. Well, I spotted this little gem on a recent trip to Newcastle, UK.

Now, it wouldn’t be Japanese unless it was slathered in mayonnaise…

mmmmmm…
I don’t like fish very much but because it looks so much like a toaster’s stroodle, I want to try it. BTW… I have seen this exact post on somene’s blog yesterday or before yesterday (member from this site). *coughnocredit?cough*

Plastic Fantastic!
May 19th, 2006 at 6:56 pmHedgie, it didn’t taste like a toaster stroodle, I can tell you that.
May 19th, 2006 at 10:29 pmAnd I gave JP permission to use that post from my blog.
What’s a toaster stroodle?
May 19th, 2006 at 10:49 pmHedgie,
Maybe when you finally get your site up and running, you will learn about the concept of “cross-posting.”
Please take care before you start making suggestions about a person’s integrity or lack thereof.

May 19th, 2006 at 11:31 pmIs that Hedgie as in “hedgehog”?
As in “Sonic the Hedgehog” and “The Blue Hedgehog Network“?
I think Japundit should feel doubly insulted to have its integrity questioned by someone with the history of Panovation Studios.
Good luck in getting your project off the ground this time around.
May 20th, 2006 at 12:03 amGodammit, will someone tell me what a toaster stroodle is??
May 20th, 2006 at 6:38 pmMight be a sad fact of my life that, while I have had grilled cheese sushi, I have never enjoyed a toaster strudel. They are sugary frozen pastries that you heat up in the toaster. The likeness to grilled cheese sushi Hedgie was refering to comes from the fact that you can drizzle a toaster strudle with sugary icing once it’s heated up.
They are an American creation, not a Japanese one.

Can you even get these in Japan?
May 20th, 2006 at 9:47 pmAh, a strudel! But that you can put in the toaster. Sounds like a whole heap of sugar and cholesterol - heaven.
May 20th, 2006 at 10:51 pm@ #3 okay, i was just looking out for ya ;]
@ #6 who’s asking?
I wish it did taste like a toaster’s strudel though XD
May 21st, 2006 at 6:07 pmtoo bad i cant edit my post so il double post to add something.
I wasn’t questioning japundit’s legitimacy over this article, in fact I know that they give credit when its needed. I was just questioning about the person who submitted it because I remembered the one who wrote it had a link on his username which he does not on this thread. Since I didn’t remember who it was, I asked that question. But now I know it’s Mr. Wake and all is good =)
Also to judge me or an entire company because of one person’s idiocy is hurtful. Thanks for the GL though =)
