Poderbation

gPodThere are stories all over the net these days about how Apple is going after companies using the word “pod” in the names of the products. Now a small company in Osaka, Japan has ended up in the sights of the Cupertino multinational over a sex aid for women they decided to name the gPod.

After you connect an iPod, cellphone, or other music player to the gPod, it causes a strategically located vibrator to gyrate in time with the audio, turning your audio stimulation into a sensual one.

The two guys who own the company that produces the gPod apparently laughed at lawyers sent over by Apple in an attempt to get them to cease and desist, and vowed to fight for the right to pod.

“Putting it simply, the fight is all over what I call our beat generator. There’s a small device with three different, sound-activated motors. It’s a revolutionary invention. You can plug it in to iPods or mobile phones. It can also be programmed to operate only for certain voices,” Kameda says, referring to his company’s product.

The gPod has been awarded a Japanese patent for the device and a Japanese trademark on the gPod logo.

Apple says, “It’s company policy not to comment on legal cases.”
