Nintendo comes back - Wii update

I will admit it: I like Nintendo. And Sega, but they folded. I have a GameCube and all of my gaming friends have Playstations or Xboxes. With the GameCube, Nintendo did not do well.

The WiiBut it looks like things have changed. Sales for the Wii seem to be outpacing the Playstation, partially due to Sony’s production issues. But, the reviews of the Wii have been almost universally good. My favorite is here. And you can also go back to the Japundit archives for some more information about it. This one from Kaishin was especially right-on with a prediction that Nintendo was doing everything right. And this one from Alex talks about issues with the strap for the controller not handling the stress and taking out televisions! Nintendo is replacing straps that are eligible.

Looks like Nintendo has made a rather surprising comeback.

The young anime-loving crowd is really into Nintendo right now, and really anti-Sony for some good reasons. It helps that 16-24 year olds don’t have $600 to blow on a PS3, but still. When I asked the attendees at Otakon which system they would be buying it was nearly 100% for Nintendo and 5-10% for PS3. Sony has made so many blunders with their system I want to feel sorry for them.

What amazes me is the Wii has, like, 5 games out on it! Imagine if the trends of sales continue.

And I forgot to mention the price point being a big difference as well.

I am definitely getting one myself. I just want some more games to come out before I drop the $$.

Sony has made quite a few mistakes with not just the PS3 but their PSP as well. In fact standard PlayStation titles are moving over to Nintendo like Final Fantasy! (You know you’ve got a problem when…)

There’s little doubt that this is Nintendo’s turn to shine…
