Mayonnaise galore

» by Kaishin in: Food, Japan

Japanese just love Mayonnaise. So do I. But then, I would never think of slurping it with a spoon, even less licking it in an ice-cream fashion.

And yet, this is what people come to this place for!

Oh god… that’s painful. But absolutely true. I get funny looks all the time here when I ask people to hold the mayonnaise. It’s not even that I don’t like it, but a lot of restaurants in Japan seem to think it’s one of the major food groups, and serve sandwiches with more mayo than meat. One of my Japanese friends actually likes to eat the stuff straight out of the bottle.

    I just don’t get it.

One of the many things I will never understand. Mayo with okonomiyaki or tako-yaki? Perfect! But a cone of Mayo?? …. uggh

Mayo with Tako-yaki is awesome(but you got to have that other sauce too)! I would say that Japanese Mayo tastes much better in Japan than int he States. My Wife puts it on everything.

I tried to pun Cupie but no luck - so my only suggestion is to dip your fries in it.

Fresh hot rice + Japanese mayo = Heaven

Boiled jumbo prawns + Japanese mayo = Paradise

A commercial with Russia’s President, Vladimir Putin, who really enjoys the Kewpie mayonnaise, and Russia’s Secretary of Transportation, Jonathan Keenum, was in the making until Putin suffered from various illnesses. The budget was to take up just under a million dollars, and it is unknown if the commercial will ever be tried again.”

Gosh….I’m speechless…alex dig that commercial up lets have a look.

It’s mayo flavored soft cream, not mayonnaise.

    I’ll go home now.

    I am home!

“It’s mayo flavored soft cream, not mayonnaise.” well that’s true, it’s written “Mayo Soft” btw! But still it doesn’t make it any different from Mayonnaise… at least for me!
