Hey, teacher, leave those kids alone!
OK, at first this story from Kanagawa reads quite simple:
According to the board of education, the teacher, who is in his 20s, attached the note to the student’s back as punishment after a female student complained that some boys were trying to sneak into their changing room. Without confirming the facts, the teacher accused the boy and made him wear the note which read: “I am an idiot. I tried but failed to sneak into the girls’ changing room.”
Teacher punished for pinning humiliating note on student’s back, yes, I can see why he might merit being disciplined.
However, at no point in the article is there any comment on the fact that the said teacher pulled the student up about his failure to spy on girls getting nekkid. We can only assume had he succeeded then teacher would have given him a gold star.
So you make an assumption about the attitude of the teacher concerning spying on girls based on a complete lack of facts? Quite interesting. Unless you’re being funny, in which case I quite missed your point.
I think the punishment fit the crime. How should he have punished the boy? Social humiliation is a stong and effective motivator. I’d be willing to bet the boy won’t be trying that particular stunt again.
I think the teacher got a raw deal. We expect teachers to teach our children then get upset when they punish them? Is punishment for socially unacceptable actions not part of being taught?
July 6th, 2007 at 3:17 amYeah, I can’t believe it made the news.
Not so long ago, you would get slapped in the face by your teacher or made fun by your teacher in front of all your classmates.
Now a teacher is punished for humiliating a young boy but such a young boy can cut off his mother’s head with no judiciary sentence followed.
July 6th, 2007 at 7:24 amErm, “I tried but failed to sneak into the girls’ changing room.” would imply that the teacher felt the need to pull him up about his failure rather than the act itself. Those are the ‘facts’.
However, it was a cheap gag and I apologise and promise not to do it again. In fact…
I must not make lame gags on Japundit.

Know something I don’t or is this more of your usual anti-big government whining?
