Bejing bans food sales in public toilets
As we reported here the other day, China is hustling to clean up the acts of the citizens of Beijing in an effort to ensure that the city does not become the laughingstock of the world due to the people’s notoriously coarse manners.
One other area where officials are cracking down is public toilets. It seems that some toilet operators have turned the commodes under their command into commercial operations and even have taken to serving food out of them.
“It is not proper to sell soft drinks or snacks right at the toilets,” the Beijing News said, citing sources within the Beijing Municipal Administration Commission.
“The city authorities also plan to publish a toilet guide, provide toilet information over the telephone and the Internet and erect more road signs to help toilet users.”
