Japan’s Economy, Trade and Industry Minister has said he is planning to demand an 80-billion-yen slice of the 2008 budget to be earmarked to finance projects aimed at preventing global warming.
Once of the projects the nation is considering calls for developing technology to make it possible to store carbon dioxide under the ocean floor.

80 billion to take away from the public and spread among his pals.
A look at any temperature chart that shows the last million years clearly shows us in a relatively rare cool period with nowhere to go but up. Why don’t we throw some money at halting the reversal of the magnetic poles while we’re at it? And, I think the world is revolving is a bit too fast. Let’s slow it down before we are all flung off into space.
Sheesh.

Well, about 2 trillions yen are already spent for developing nuclear fusion power plant.(So far no substantial result.) But I hope this case won’t be that awful. MITI is saying they will work on following objectives for next 10 years.(80 billion yen for the next fiscal year, will be distributed to institutes and universities for related researches.)
1. Develop to store carbon dioxide under the sea floor
2. Usage of Hydrogen energy
3. Advanced nuclear power plant
4. Solar energy, wind power, etc.
Storing carbon dioxide under the sea floor is considered to be the most effective means against global warming. I guess stopping population explosion is also the effective way. The global warming will cause collapse of ecosystem, shortage of water and food(agriculture) and so on.
