Dice-K craps out

Boston Red Sox Japanese player Daisuke Matsuzaka (14-12) found out that life ain’t all peanuts and Cracker Jack in the Big Leagues when he was shelled mercilessly by the Balitmore Orioles in a recent game.
The $103 million Matsuzaka lasted only 2-2/3 innings during which he gave up eight runs on six hits and gave up two runs on bases-loaded walks
I was watching a Mariners game about two weeks ago. Against whom, I don’t remember. But the opposing team’s first pitcher gave up five runs… before the first out.
He lasted 1/3 of an inning.
Then again, one suspects he didn’t cost $105 million.
And even *with* that advantage, I think the Mariners just barely lasted the rest of the game. They always implode in late August-Sept.
Damned it.
September 10th, 2007 at 11:08 pmMatsuzaka has been very bad in his last six starts. When his fastballs weren’t well controlled they were easy to hit home runs. I saw him several times in such bad conditions when he was in Seibu Lions. Probably he still isn’t used to a pitching rotation in 5 days and he isn’t fit enough(He would pitch by 6 days rotation in Japan). Might it be better for him to take some days rest or make relief hurler for a while ?
Many people start thinking he doesn’t deserve for $100 million. Though Matsuzaka was a kind of pitcher with relative high ERA and lots of losing games in Japan. Only when he was concentrated he pitched very well.
