I’ve won a prize!

Millions upon millions of New Year greetings postcards are sent in Japan every year. And aside from receiving the cards themselves, you stand a chance of winning a prize in a lottery based on numbers printed on (some of) the cards.
For a full run-down of this year’s prizes, read Ken’s informative post at What Japan Thinks.
That’s some list of prizes. And I’m delighted to report that one of those has made it’s way to the Overoften household.
Details of our prize after the jump…

Yes, my friends, that’s a whole ¥130 of stamps you’re looking at there. Don’t start sending begging letters, though. It’s all mine.
Aww come on just one stamp? ;o)
February 5th, 2008 at 1:48 amDon’t think of it as ¥130, think of it as $568.74 Chilean Pesos!
February 5th, 2008 at 2:49 amI bet the packaging cost more than the prize.
don’t go on a big stamp usage spree now, sit down & think wisely on how to invest on them for the future.
February 5th, 2008 at 5:09 amMike - one stamp?! That’s half of my loot! And as Len points out, that’s a whole 284.37 pesos!
February 5th, 2008 at 9:26 amAnd Robin, Mrs O suggested that if we “lay them down”, we’d have the beginning of a retirement fund. I’m not convinced that 130 yen of stamps is gonna see us through our frail dotage, though.
(And for once, there was no packaging - you have to go up to the Post Office to collect them in person and not look pathetically excited.)
Awww…they’re cute
