in what is one of the more disturbing trends in contemporary japan, the maid cafes and other perverted male otaku hang outs have spawned a new branch of cafes for female otaku, ones based one gay comic book porn. that’s right, women who want to indulge their childhood fantasy of young effeminate men dressed in high school uniforms flirting with each other, engaging in oral sex, or brutally anal raping each other finally have an outlet for their fetish.

now if you’re anything like me, your fist reaction to this article might be, oh say, wtf? but apparently in japan’s never ending quest to cater to every possible kink, they have stumbled across a sizable subset of female otaku that just can’t get enough of yoai manga and doujinshi. as a consequence proprietors sensing an opportunity for profit have created bars and restaurants much like the one featured in this article. run by a woman by the name of emiko sakamaki, the place goes by the name of edlestein (named after a yoai comic set in a german high school) and features a staff of young cosmetically enhanced men. according to her and others the market is driven by the atmosphere of female indulgence that has been of which japan has, until this time, been bereft of, combined with the popularity of anime and manga, complicated by the desire for relationships which transcend traditional gender roles, all united by a sample population of young to middle aged single women who appreciate the unparalleled beauty of a fragile young teenager being raped by other men (preferably in groups).

After weeks of Japanese indignation, editorials condemning out of control U.S. soldiers, images off U.S. military commanders bowing deeply in contrition before the governor of Okinawa, and even an apology by U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice over the alleged rape of a 14-year-old Okinawa schoolgirl by a U.S. Marine. . . the girl has dropped her criminal complaint and the local district prosecutor has dropped all charges.

Japanese authorities are portraying the dropping of charges as being in consideration for the feelings of the young victim.

According to the prosecutors, the girl said to them, “That’s enough, leave me alone.”

“We must give maximum respect to the will of the victim,” Yaichiro Yamashiki, chief prosecutor at the prosecutors office, said at a press conference. “In keeping with legal procedure, we dealt with the case in this way [by not indicting him] because the accusation was retracted.”

“We’ve determined that it isn’t appropriate to indict the suspect by applying charges…out of consideration for the victim’s feelings,” Yamashiki added.

But with all of the furor generated by the incident, it is logical to assume that prosecutors would have pushed hard to have the Marine put behind bars if there had been any physical evidence at all to indicate that a sexual assault actually had taken place.

I wonder if the people of Okinawa plan to make a formal apology to the Marines.

Here is another one of those stories that pop up every now and again that seem to indicate some Japanese men have a definite problem interacting with members of the opposite sex.

In this episode, Daisuke Nunomura, a 28-year old male employee of Skymark Airlines has been arrested for abusing a female coworker whom he locked in his car for five hours at Tokyo’s Haneda Airport.

Nunomura originally met his 28-year old cabin attendant victim about two years ago, and immediately started to bombard her with e-mails and letters. Apparently upset that she spurned his love attack, Nunomera ambushed the woman and forced her into his car, where he held her captive for about five hours, during which Nunomura allegedly head-butted the woman.

The woman eventually was able to escape by telling Nunomura that she needed to go to the toilet. She an e-mail message to a friend when Nunomura left her alone.

Nunomura admits to the charges against him, but refuses to give police a reason for acting as he did, telling them, “I’ll tell you about the motive for my crime later.”

Ain’t love grand!

The Hairy White Prince writes in to point us to this story that appeared in the New York Post recently.

The report is about a retired math professor from Montreal who almost choked to death at a New York SM club called The Nutcracker Suite.

Police were called in when the man became unconscious and turned blue while wearing a hood and being trussed on a device called “the wheel.” His hands were bound behind him, and he was wearing a leather collar around his neck attached to a rope secured to a hook on the ceiling, nipple clamps, and women’s high heels.

During his “session” at the club the professor was under the care a Japanese “mistress” named Taki Noriko.

This is where things get interesting. The Hairy White Price tells us:

Oh my. Her parents must be proud she’s made the news in NYC. Well, luckily the guy survived his ordeal, but he may not be so lucky when he gets back home and faces his wife, who remarked after hearing an account of her husband’s escapades: “Oh, my gosh, I can’t believe this.”

If you have not heard by now, a U.S. Marine allegedly has raped a junior high school girl in Okinawa, setting off a fresh new round of indignation and serious damage control by the U.S. Forces.

As you can see in the photo nearby, the U.S. military commander seems to have gone with the “bow enough and you can get away with just about anything” ploy that is so popular these days among politicians, corporate bigwigs, and other nogoodniks when they are caught red-handed.

To mark the occasion, the Mainichi has published a piece that purports to list a “record of postwar fatalities and sex crimes caused by US military in Okinawa.” Here is the list with fatalities due to accident crossed out, which, I guess, should leave us with a list of all the sex crimes committed by the U.S. military in Okinawa.

• September 1955: An American military member rapes and kills a 6-year-old girl in Kadena.
• June 1959: A U.S. fighter jet crashes into Miyamori Elementary School in Ishikawa, killing 17, including 11 children.
• June 1965: A trailer falls from a U.S. military plane during training in Yomitan, landing on a girl and killing her.
• July 1966: An American serviceman kills a woman in Kin.
• May 1968: An American serviceman rapes and kills a woman on the side of the road in Yomitan.
• February 1969: An American serviceman kills a woman in Koza.
• December 1970: A U.S. military member’s car crash sparks rioting in Koza with citizens torching over 70 U.S. military vehicles.
• April 1972: An American serviceman kills a woman in Kitanakagusuku.
• August 1972: An American military member kills a woman in Ginowan.
• December 1972: An American serviceman kills a woman in Koza.
• March 1973: An American serviceman kills a female restaurant worker in Koza.
• April 1973: An American service member is involved in a fatal tank accident in Kin.
• October 1974: An American military member kills a woman in Nago.
• May 1995: An American serviceman kills a woman in Ginowan.
• September 1995: Three U.S. military members abduct an elementary schoolgirl in the northern part of the prefecture, keeping her captive in their car before gang raping her. The crime sparks tremendous anti-base sentiment within the prefecture and anti-base rallies are held throughout Okinawa in October.
• October 1998: A U.S. Marine kills a schoolgirl in a hit-and-run in Kitanakagusuku.
• July 2000: A U.S. Marine breaks into an Okinawa apartment, performing indecent acts on the junior high schoolgirl sleeping inside.
• June 2001: A U.S. military member rapes a woman in her 20s in Chatan.
• May 2003: A U.S. Marine rapes a 19-year-old teenager in Kin.
• July 2005: An American serviceman indecently assaults an elementary schoolgirl in Okinawa.
• February 2008: A U.S. Marine is arrested for raping a junior high schoolgirl in Okinawa.

That makes 17 dastardly acts committed from 1955 to 2008, a total of 53 years.

While admitting that even one such act is horrible, and taking into account the fact that some such acts may not have been reported during the early years of The Occupation, this is still not such a bad record, everything considered.

In case you are not aware, there is a big scandal going on in Hong Kong right now due to the public release of sex pics that show movie actor Edison Chen and actress Gillian Chung doing the dirty for the digital.

Though this has been ongoing news for quite a while now, we have chosen not to say anything about it because the main players in the Cantonese version of Sex, Lies and Video Tape had nothing to do with Japan.

According to a report on the digital gossip rag Hollywood Grind, Chen’s collection of 1,300 dirty pics may include shots of Japanese movie star Chiaki Kuriyama of Kill Bill fame, and other Japanese starlets.

It should be emphasized here that this is only rumor at this stage and as far as I know there is no photographic proof at this time.

Evidently, Edison Chen is a real playboy who likes to shoot trophy photos of his conquests. Judging from the expressions of the girls in the photos that I saw, Chen apparently had no trouble getting well-known young women to perform like porn stars for him and on him in front of the camera.

Trouble struck when Chen took his laptop, photos and all, in for repairs, and a technician copied the hard disk. The photos are now all over the Internet, and you can see a bunch of them here at Hollywood Grind.

Here is something a bit different for your weekend viewing pleasure. . . It is the trailor for a new soap opera out of Thailand titled War of Angels.

The new soap opera focuses on the sexual scandal of a handsome married pilot, and a group of jealous air hostesses fighting for his love. The stewardesses can be seen cat fighting while on duty and wearing their uniforms.

It seems a trade union that represents air crews has filed a complaint with the Thai culture ministry and the TV station that broadcasts the show, saying it demeans their profession.

Though the producers of the show have apologized, and have promised to lengthen the skirts worn by the flight attendant characters and to stop depicting them having cat fights in uniform (which I guess means they will have them wearing something else when they cat fight), they have ruled out cancelling the show as demanded by the union.

An odd report in today’s Mainichi reveals that “a summary court judge resigned last year after being reprimanded for molesting an employee of a sex shop in Kobe”.

The incident occurred in October last year, and the resignation followed a month later. The “60-year-old judge” is said to have bitten a woman who worked in sex shop in Kobe.

The 60-year-old judge at the Hirakata Summary Court bit the lip of a Kobe sex shop employee in her 20s on Oct. 6, last year, injuring her, according to the district court. He is also accused of demanding excessive sexual services from her.

Excessive? I had no idea a sex shop worker was the same as a ’sex worker’. Surely any demand for sexual services was ‘excessive’? And how the lip-biting came about… the mind boggles.

Though he could’ve been charged with ‘indecent assault resulting in injury’, he paid the woman compensation to the tune of ¥1.7 million in an out-of-court settlement, so that, as far as the authorities were concerned, was that. So no messy paperwork to sort out. Everyone’s a winner.

Mainichi Wai Wai has a report with useful advice for men looking to troll the Lolita crowd for a little play for pay.

• Avoid the underaged.
• Watch out for those who use a lot of picture characters and smileys in their e-mail.
• Insist the girl tells her your age and get her to mail you a message stating that she’s over 18.
• Arrive at any meeting place well ahead of the scheduled time.
• Find a hiding spot and check out whether the girl is your type and what she’s doing.

East Japan Railway Co. (JR East) has reportedly rejected posters promoting a local “naked festival” because they feel many women would be uncomfortable looking at the naked men in on the posters.

“As sexual harassment becomes more of a problem, the standards for displaying posters in public spaces are becoming stricter,” a representative of the Morioka branch of JR East explained. “It wasn’t just that it was out of line because there was nakedness; the pictures showed things that were particularly unpleasant for women, such as chest hair, and it was decided that showing them things they didn’t want to see was sexual harassment.”

The family of a high school girl who was the victim of molestation at the hands of her track coach is suing for 6.88 million yen for damages saying the school did not handle the case properly.

The girl’s lawsuit says she was a top sprinter who represented Kyoto Prefecture at national championships during her junior high school days. During a camp in August 2006, for three nights straight, her 57-year-old coach said he would give her a massage, but instead fondled her breasts and private parts. The girl complained and during a school investigation the coach admitted he had molested the schoolgirl athletics champ and apologized. He was on the verge of being fired, but died suddenly on Aug. 31, 2006.

After the coach died, other members of the athletics team began blaming the girl for pressuring the coach to quit, causing her severe mental duress, the lawsuit says.

The girl’s parents say they wanted the school to go public with the details of the case, but they refused. The school say they were still in the process of mulling there options, and that the suit came as a surprise.

The claim of a 21-year-old Japanese woman in New Zealand that she was dragged into a van and gang raped has been proven to be a lie in an attempt to gain the attention of her ex-boyfriend.

Chie Ikee , 21, of Matamata, appeared in the Hamilton District Court yesterday afternoon and admitted one charge of making a false complaint.

Ikee said she was distraught at the end of her relationship and she was trying to get sympathy and attention from her ex-partner. Despite Ikee’s plan to return to Japan on Monday, Judge Barry Morris convicted her and imposed a one-year suspended sentence.

The woman is planning to return to Japan soon, no doubt much to the relief of her ex-boyfriend.

For some reason, the Japanese government seems to be just as intent as ever in its quest to keep it citizens as ignorant as possible regarding the appearance of their genitals. Once citizen, however, is just as determined to fight for the right to gander.

Publisher Takashi Asai started on his quest eight years ago when customs official confiscated a book of his by the late American photographer Robert Mapplethorpe, which includes sado-masochistic homosexual images, because they were judged to be obscene

Asai, who heads a film distribution company, translated and published a collection of Mapplethorpe’s works in Japan in 1994, based on imported negatives that customs did not check.

But when Asai carried a copy of his book back from the United States in 1999, it was seized by customs officials and he has battled with courts since to reverse the move.

Japan’s domestic obscenity laws were relaxed in the 1990s to allow pictures of pubic hair, but imported publications are handled by customs and it still bans images of genitals.

“It’s meaningless to have to cover nude photos in this day and age when images are being freely accessed on the Internet,” Asai said in a telephone interview this week.

The book is in the Japanese parliament’s library, he said, and copies were offered for sale on the Web.

Japanese obscenity laws have loosened up a bit over the past couple of years. There once was a time not that long ago when any image that showed any pubic hair was off limits. . . Though there was softcore nudity nightly on TV and hardcore strip joints operating out in the open scattered here and there among the various night spots.

Pubic hair is no longer taboo, but the physical genitals are still officially off limits. Above-board publishers follow the law to the letter, so what is specifically declared off limits by the law (which actually is not that much) is masked. Everything else is presented in its entire glory for the purveyor’s viewing pleasure.

Police in Osaka, Japan have arrested an 18-year-old boy on suspicion of forcibly ejaculating on women in public.

The boy is accused of grabbing a 62-year-old woman by the hair and anointing her with his precious bodily fluids in a park last August. He is also suspected of felonious wanking in more than 10 other similar incidents in the same general area.
